Core principles of game design

Walkthrough

In my game your a mermaid or merman and you need to make your way though each level and in every 10 levels there is a mini boss to defeat as your make your way through the levels there is power ups to collect and they will help through each level. The goal of the game is to save the merprince/princess.

NPC’S (non playable character)

NCP is a non playable character this a character that is not controlled via the player. There is NPC’S  in my game for example the enemies and the merprince/princess. As you go along you collect fish and when you get 10 fish you gain a life. The game is set under water it also has an under water castle and there are boxes with fish inside to collect.

Goals, challenges and rewards

Goals, rewards and challenges. These are tasks within the game and also it enhances the player’s experience. In this game when you collect 10 fish out of the boxes you will gain a life and sometimes get power-ups to help you through the tough challenges. This leaves the player in anticpation and wanting more.

Game world

Game world is the objects and structures of the game. This can relate to the settings. This also what entices the player to continue to play the game. The art of is visually attractive to the human eye and it contains wide variety of bright colours. When the character get power ups they eat each of them and gain powers to help them through each level. The information to help the character is that the enemies leave clues behind to help you on your way.

Difficulty and balance

Difficulty and balance. This is realting to how hard the levels are and the dynamic adjustments if any. The game is of medium difficulty.

Feedback

Feedback is given when the player has completed a task or level. This can be visual or audio. This then immerses the play to play on further. Feedback in this game is audible, when you complete a level you will hear a voice saying “well done” then a star will immerse infront of the screen.

Game prototype and interface

Dead by daylight does not have a specific setting it is linked to the horror movies and killers that is in the game for example in a corn field, hospital or the nightmare on elm street. There are no MPC’S in dead by daylight as it is an online game. In the game you can choose to be either a killer or a surviver, if you’re a killer your objective is to kill all of the surviver’s and make sure that they dont escape, but if you’re a surviver you need to fix generators you need to do 5 generators and get away from the killer but if you don’t succeed and you are the last person alive you can stll leave as a hatch appears and you only need to do 2 generators

Games I’ve made

This is the pachinko game I’ve made. and all of my designs that i have created .

level 5 changes

level 1 changes

level 2 changes

level 3 changesbackground

Here is one of my levels working you can use the xbox 360 controller you use the analogue stick to move the dropper and use the A button to drop the balls and use the arrows to move the goal. You can also use the keyboard to move the dropper you push WASD and press the right button on the mouse and use the arrow keys to move the goal.

You can gain points by dropping the balls and destroy as many pins as possible every pin is worth 100 points. You need to destroy as many as you can to get onto the next level, but you only have a few balls to start with and you gain some more balls when you destroy the pin.

Title Screen

I am going to create a title screen for my game but first im going to do some research about wich have a title screen.

The defamation of a title screen: The Title Screen in a game usually gives you the game’s title, and sometimes some menu options. Most games have a title screen, but lots of older games, such as Asteriods, don’t. Even TV shows have it, too.

These are the different title screens of different games.

The concept of play

  1. What does the term play mean? The term of play means that individuals can participate and engage in an enjoyable activity.
  2. Give examples of where and why this may be important to individuals and society: People play video games to relax and distress. You may play as an individual or in a party to form a line of communication. A lot of people tend to play as an individual via a headset as they don’t really have to socilise in the real world. As a child you learn through play by using sensory through touch. Using a sandpit and water this will help you develop as a child to identify certain things.” Play is very important to a child’s development,  Young children can develop many skills through the power of play. They may develop their language skills, emotions, creativity and social skills. Play helps to nurture imagination and give a child a sense of adventure.
